Best Discord bots in 2026

There is no single best Discord bot in 2026. Discord’s AutoMod is free on every server, and it already blocks words and spam you configure. Add another bot only for a job AutoMod does not do: reaction roles and logs, a saved copy of the server, or a list of members who agreed to be added back.

This page is for an owner picking that second bot. We opened the vendor pages on November 7, 2026, and we left out bots whose sites did not load. A music bot, a ticket bot, or an anti-raid bot can still be the right extra tool. This ranking does not pretend to have tested those.

AutoMod from Discord’s FAQ, updated June 15, 2026. Carl-bot and Xenon from their sites on November 7, 2026. VaultCord from the upgrade screen the same day.

What should you turn on first?

Turn on Discord’s own tools before you invite a bot. AutoMod is available on all servers. People with Administrator or Manage Server can edit it on desktop, not on mobile, and those same permissions are always exempt from the filters. A verification level is separate: it decides who can speak, and it is covered in Discord verification level.

A new server does not need five bots on day one. Make the server, set AutoMod, then add the one tool you are missing. The click path for the server itself is How to make a Discord server.

Which bot fits which job?

Match the bot to the missing job. One general bot that claims every job is how servers end up with three automods fighting.

Anti-raid and anti-nuke are a different job. Wick’s homepage that day did not publish a feature list or a price, so this page does not invent one. Use Best Discord anti-raid bots for that choice.

What does AutoMod already do?

AutoMod is a set of content filters in Server Settings. Keyword rules can use Discord’s commonly flagged word lists or a list you write, up to 1,000 terms. Spam rules can block spammy text and messages with too many mentions. The mention cap you can set goes up to 50. A blocked message can be stopped, alerted to a private channel, or, on a custom keyword rule, used to time someone out.

With AutoMod, you'll get access to different content filters that let you automatically detect - and even block - undesirable and risky content before it is ever posted.

AutoMod does not save your channels, and it does not add members to a new server. It also does not flag messages from apps you installed on the server. If the problem is a deleted category, AutoMod was never the tool.

When is Carl-bot the extra bot?

Carl-bot is the extra bot when you want reaction roles, mod logs, and your own commands on top of AutoMod. The homepage lists up to 250 reaction-role pairs per server, with modes it names as unique, verify, reversed, binding, and temporary. It also lists automod, logging, custom commands, greetings, and Twitch and YouTube alerts. The same page says it is trusted by 15,442,545 servers. That figure is Carl-bot’s, not a count we measured.

Premium is described as a custom avatar and banner, higher limits, and more reaction roles. The homepage does not show a dollar price. Do not treat a price from another roundup as Carl-bot’s price.

When do you need a backup bot?

You need a backup bot when losing the channel list would take longer to rebuild than the bot costs. Xenon Free keeps 15 backups of channels, roles, and settings, and it does not include messages. Premium starts at $5.99 a month for 50 messages per channel. Premium 3 is $15.99 and 250 messages. Xenon says members are never shown an authorization screen, and it says it cannot bring members back.

That trade is the whole of Discord backup bot. If you only want Xenon’s numbers next to VaultCord’s, Xenon bot alternative is the shorter page.

Where does VaultCord fit?

VaultCord fits when the thing you cannot rebuild by hand is the member list. A member has to approve Discord’s authorization screen, including permission to be added to servers later. Free saves the structure and not the messages, allows 2 servers, and waits 10 hours between pulls. Premium is $4.97 a month, 5 servers, up to 350 messages per channel, and a pull of 10,000 members before you need Plus. Plus is $9.97 a month, unlimited servers, the same 350 messages, and no pull wait. The 350 messages are the latest in that channel.

Those amounts are the monthly prices on the upgrade screen on November 7, 2026. Captcha and a minimum account age are available on Free. Alt detection is not. VaultCord does not replace AutoMod, and it does not undo a raid that already happened unless a backup and a verify list existed beforehand.

What about MEE6?

MEE6’s premium page says it is used by more than 21 million servers. That is their claim. On November 7, 2026 the page was running a countdown. The prices on screen were a first month at $6.99, a first year at $29.99, and a lifetime price of $54.99, each with a higher number struck through beside it. A countdown price is not a standing price. Open MEE6 Premium again before you pay. We are not repeating the plugin limits on that page, because the free and paid columns were not labeled clearly enough to quote.

What changed for verification bots in 2026?

Double Counter is the verification bot many roundups still list. Tellter’s report, updated October 21, 2026, says that on October 4 an attacker copied about 28 million Discord IDs and usernames, about 27 million IP and coarse location records, and about 1 million email addresses. About 5,000 payment records in that copy included billing addresses. Have I Been Pwned lists a smaller public slice of 274,900 emails. Doogle, Tellter’s paid lookup, closed on October 10, 2026. Their privacy policy still says they do not sell personal data. Read the incident report before you verify anyone with Double Counter. The full write-up is Double Counter on Discord.

How it works

  1. 1Turn on AutoMod

Server Settings, then AutoMod, on desktop. Keyword and spam rules are included on every server.

  2. 2Name the missing job

Reaction roles, a saved layout, or members who can be added back. Pick one.

  3. 3Add one bot for that job

Carl-bot, Xenon, or VaultCord. Leave the other jobs to the tool that publishes that job.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • AutoMod is free on every server, so the first moderation layer has no bot to invite.
  • Carl-bot publishes a reaction-role cap, 250 pairs, on the page you can open.
  • Xenon publishes message caps, stored backups, and the fact that it cannot restore members.
  • VaultCord publishes who can be added back: people who verified, and nobody else.
  • The Double Counter incident report is public, so a 2026 list can warn you before you send members there.

Cons

  • This page does not rank music, tickets, or anti-raid. Those sites were not the ones we could quote.
  • Carl-bot’s server count is their homepage figure. We did not measure it, and their premium price is not on that page.
  • MEE6’s prices were a countdown sale. They can change as soon as the timer ends.
  • VaultCord cannot add a member who never verified, and 350 messages is not the whole channel.
  • Xenon Premium covers every server that account administrates. VaultCord Premium is 5 servers.
  • AutoMod never flags apps you installed, and admins are exempt, so it will not moderate your own team.

Our verdict

Frequently asked questions

Is there one best Discord bot in 2026?

No. AutoMod covers words and spam. Carl-bot, Xenon, VaultCord, and MEE6 cover different leftovers. A server usually wants two of those, not all of them.

Does AutoMod cost money?

Discord’s FAQ says AutoMod is available for all servers. We did not find a fee on that page.

Can a backup bot replace moderation?

No. A backup restores a layout you already saved. It does not block the next scam link. Keep AutoMod on.

Does Carl-bot publish a premium price?

Not on the homepage we opened on November 7, 2026. The page describes higher limits and does not show a dollar amount.

What if members will not verify?

VaultCord will have nobody to add back. Use Xenon, or another tool that only rebuilds channels and roles, and say so to the members before a crisis.
