A Discord backup bot saves the server’s channels, roles, permissions, and settings so you can rebuild that layout. It does not, by itself, put every member back. VaultCord adds someone back only after that person has approved Discord’s authorization screen. Xenon says it never asks for that screen, and it also says it cannot bring members back.
This is for a server owner who wants the rooms back after a bad edit or a deleted server. The limit that decides the tool: if the people have to return, they have to verify before the loss. A backup taken after they are gone cannot invent that permission.
VaultCord figures from the upgrade screen on November 7, 2026. Xenon figures from xenon.bot/premium the same day. marCloud figures from marcloud.net/backupbot the same day. Confirm before you pay.
What does a Discord backup bot save?
A Discord backup bot stores a copy of the server layout so an admin can recreate it. On the pages checked November 7, 2026, that copy starts with channels, roles, permissions, and server settings. Messages, bans, emojis, and member role assignments show up only on the plans that say so.
Discord’s own AutoMod does not do this job. AutoMod blocks messages. It does not store your channel list. If you still need a moderation layer, turn that on first, then add a backup. The AutoMod FAQ, updated June 15, 2026, is the setup page. For the wider bot choice, read Best Discord bots in 2026.
What can it not bring back?
A normal bot cannot move a Discord account from a dead server to a new one. Xenon states that limit on its comparison page. A tool that does add people back is replaying a permission those people already granted. VaultCord is that second kind of tool. Someone who never opened the verify link, or who revoked it, is not in the list.
If member recovery is what you're shopping for, Xenon isn't the tool.
Xenon’s comparison also describes RestoreCord. Copies of RestoreCord’s code posted publicly say the owner added a path that sent member IP addresses to a site called inf0sec. Tom’s Guide, updated March 13, 2025, reported a February claim of nearly a million records, including last-serving IPs, usernames, and Discord IDs. The same update says RestoreCord told Tom’s Guide that its services were not compromised and that the claims were unfounded. Both statements are on that page. The longer account is VaultCord vs RestoreCord.
What does Xenon publish?
Xenon Free saves channels, roles, and settings, keeps 15 backups, and runs an automatic backup every 24 hours. Messages are not included. Premium 1 is $5.99 a month before VAT and saves 50 messages per channel, with 50 stored backups. Premium 3 is $15.99 a month and saves 250 messages per channel, with 250 stored backups, every 4 hours. Premium is tied to the Discord account and works on every server that person administrates. Above 250 messages, Xenon quotes a separate product, Vault, from $25 a month.
Xenon is explicit that members are not added back. Premium’s “members” line is data inside the backup, such as role assignments and nicknames, not a list of people the bot can place into a new server. The side-by-side with VaultCord’s message cap is Xenon bot alternative.
What does VaultCord save?
VaultCord Free saves channels, roles, permissions, categories, server settings, and basic member data. It does not save messages. Premium and Plus add up to 350 messages per channel, plus attachments and emojis. Those 350 are the latest messages in the channel, not the full history.
Members are a separate step from the saved layout. A person approves Discord’s screen, including permission for the app to add them to servers later. Free lists unlimited restorable members and a 10 hour wait between pulls. Premium is $4.97 a month, 5 servers, a 1 hour wait, and a pull of 10,000 members before an upgrade. Plus is $9.97 a month, unlimited servers, no wait, and an unlimited pull. Prices are the monthly amounts on the upgrade screen on November 7, 2026.
Plus is the plan that lists automatic scheduled backups. The screen describes them as every X days and does not publish a number of days. Free and Premium do not include that switch. Premium and Plus can save each member’s roles and apply them in the new server. Free does not. A pull still follows Discord’s rate limits.
The setup includes a pre-made bot and a custom bot. Xenon’s comparison page says VaultCord runs on an application you create yourself. That is the custom-bot path, not the only path. Either path still requires the member’s approval. Post the verify link before you need the restore. Discord verification level is a different setting: it controls who can type, not who can be added back.
What does marCloudBackup publish?
marCloudBackup’s page says the free plan backs up roles, channels, settings, emojis, stickers, bans, and 200 messages in each channel, at $0. Premium is $5.99 a month and lists 2,000 messages in each channel, saved attachments, and the roles and nicknames members had. The page says the bot will remain free, and that the service has run since 2019 with zero incidents. That incident line is their statement. We did not audit it. The page does not say the bot can add members who have left. Their page was marked updated September 10, 2026, and we opened it November 7, 2026. A closer look is marCloudBackup alternative.
What Dust publishes
Dust’s site says the bot is completely free, that you can view backed-up channels, roles, bans, emojis, and server settings, that backups can be created automatically, and that a restore can leave pieces out. It does not publish a message cap, a price above $0, or a member-restore step. Where the page is silent, this article says not published.

VaultCord Premium sits between those columns: $4.97 a month, the same 350 messages as Plus, 5 servers, and a 1 hour wait. Xenon Premium 1 is the $5.99 step, at 50 messages per channel.
How it works
- 1Members verify first
They open the VaultCord link and approve being added later. Skip this and the member list is empty.
- 2Take the backup
Free saves the rooms and settings. Premium and Plus also save up to 350 messages per channel.
- 3Restore, then pull
The saved layout comes back. Only people who still authorize the app can be added, and Discord’s rate limits still apply.
Pros and cons
Pros
- VaultCord can add verified members back. Xenon says it cannot add members at all.
- Premium and Plus publish 350 messages per channel, above Xenon Premium 3’s 250.
- Plus is $9.97 a month on the upgrade screen, against $15.99 for Xenon Premium 3.
- Free still saves channels, roles, permissions, categories, and server settings.
- You can see, before a disaster, that an empty verify list will add nobody.
Cons
- People who never verify cannot be added back. That is the product, not a failed restore.
- 350 messages is the latest set in the channel, not a full archive.
- VaultCord does not publish a count of stored backup slots. Xenon Free publishes 15.
- marCloudBackup’s page lists more messages on both of its plans than VaultCord does.
- Plus is the first VaultCord plan with scheduled backups, and the screen does not say how many days apart.
- A pull waits on Discord’s rate limits. Free also waits 10 hours between pulls.
- Xenon Premium covers every server that account administrates. VaultCord Premium is 5 servers.
Our verdict
Frequently asked questions
Can a Discord backup bot restore every member?
No. A backup of the rooms does not move Discord accounts. VaultCord adds only people who approved the authorization and have not revoked it. Xenon says it cannot add members back at all.
Does the free plan save messages?
VaultCord Free does not. Xenon Free does not. marCloudBackup’s page says its free plan saves 200 messages in each channel. Dust does not publish a message number.
How many messages does VaultCord keep?
Up to 350 per channel on Premium and Plus. That is the latest set in the channel. Older messages are not in the backup.
Does Plus back up on a schedule?
Plus lists automatic scheduled backups. The upgrade screen describes them as every X days and does not give a number. Free and Premium do not include the switch. Checked November 7, 2026.
Where should I confirm a price?
On the vendor’s page, the day you pay. The prices in the table were on those pages on November 7, 2026.
